Shower Activity

Shower number two was thrown at my sister's house. My sister, mother, and friend Amy all pulled together the most beautiful, fun party I have ever attended!

THERE WAS A BUBBLE MACHINE BY THE ENTRY! Here I am with Amy, Angie, and Emily.

The cake came from Beth's Bakery (my favorite). It was beautiful and so delicious. The baby ate 1/4 of it himself. He is building quite an appetite these days!

I couldn't have felt more loved!

Additional Shower Activity

Here are some of my favorite ladies and a few action shots.

Additional Shower Activity

These pictures are all about the cute factor. They hung clothes all around the room that I had acquired over the past few months. It was such a big hit. Everyone loved to see all of the sweet, soft baby clothing. I can't wait to see the little boy that will fill these!

Additional Shower Acitivity

This is a onesie a friend got me. Renee is a SLP (Speech-Language Pathologist) too. It is a little hard to read in this photo. It says, "Watch What You Say...My Mom's an SLP". I am going to squeeze his little body in there until he is busting out the seams. I just fell in love with it!

Instead of buying cards, the hosts of my shower asked guests to sign the inside of a book and date it, to indicate who each present was from. It was one of my favorite things about the shower! I got to build up my library and I was so touched by what people wrote.

After showers it is customary for my sister and I to stand out in the yard and turn the balloons loose and watch them fly away and ooooh and awwwwe. We seriously stand there like we have zero sense, mesmorized until they are totally out of sight. This year we included the custom of brining out her kids to watch them as well, so they could melt down in the grass because we let their balloons go. *Sigh* Hindsight is 20/20.

100% Chance of Showers

I work for a fantastic school that threw a double shower for the two of us. Julie is pregnant and expecting a little girl, Zion, just two weeks ahead of me. The library was a mixture of pink and blue. So many teachers showed up to wish us well and give us little gift bags full of goodies. Here are two very round tummies.

Before

After
I played all night long. I did my first load of baby laundry. I don't think I will ever get tired of pulling three inch socks out of the dryer. I got so many beautiful things. I'm a very lucky future mom! The weatherman is calling for more showers too!

Baby's First Pictures

Here is a little memento from a very big day for us. These are the first photos of the little guy. This was around the 20 week mark. I was DYING to find out if everything looked okay and if it was a boy or a girl. I didn't sleep for weeks leading up to this day. Matt tried to play it ultra cool but I knew he was pulling for a boy. They were very thorough in the evaluation. Of course the last thing they look for during the exam is the sex of the baby. After much anticipation, she she said, "looks like a boy". After Matt asked twice for confirmation, he started clapping like I had scored a touchdown and left the room. He had a room full of people see. My sister, mother, mother-in-law and step mother-in-law were all there for the big day. They were just as excited as we were to find out if it was a boy or girl. They were so cute. There wasn't a dry eye in the room and we made quite a scene.

If you click on the picture of course it will be much more clear. In the first picture you can see that he is turned and looking right at us. It made us both say, "woa". The second is a great profile picture. I was amazed that you could see his little ear and nose. The third picture shows two tiny feet with ten tiny toes. The fourth picture, yep, shows one of those.

Seven More Weeks To Grow

They say black is the most slimming color. I have found exceptions to that rule. Here we are at 33 weeks and counting down the days!

Under Construction (phase four)

I really wanted goal posts on opposite walls to somewhat resemble a mini football field. I got the idea in my head while in Vegas on vacation and I couldn't get it out! I hadn't ever painted anything like that before. I finished the goal posts but needed some help with the outlining. I was just too nervous to do it myself. I recruited my ever steady handed and mildly OCD friend Amy to help me out. She just doesn't rest until a project is perfect. She is amazingly patient and always so helpful. I'm not sure what I would do without her help!

A little bonus was the fact that she brought her son with her. He is 15 months old. He has amazing language skills. He is learning to say a few words. However, he can already sign things like, "help", "drink", "more", and "thank you" (among many other things). When he first went into the room he said nothing but "ballballballballballballballballballball" while pointing all around the room. It was too cute. It was just the reaction I was looking for! He was such a good boy while his mama worked.

TOUCHDOWN! The goal posts are completed and we are another step closer to being finished.

My Big Fat Fathead Meltdown

In case you haven't heard of a fathead, you can check them out here... http://www.fathead.com/ . They are basically oversized stickers of sports figures that you hang on your walls. They are things that all dads wish they had when they were kids. They are things that now adorn our baby's room walls. We have two fatheads in the baby's room. The picture below is of Priest Holmes. The first fathead we had of Priest landed in a crumpled mess after putting it up. We had to send it back to the company and get a replacement. Much to my dismay, when we put up the second Priest fathead, it peeled right off the wall too. I had a total and complete meltdown. (Have I mentioned I'm more emotional since becoming pregnant.) Matt was so patient as I raced around the house trying to make it stick with gum, glue, scotch tape, or anything else I could get my hands on. I tried to leave the house at midnight in my jammies to get something stronger to make it stick. Matt had a brilliant idea (which I still haven't given him enough credit for). He suggested we use painter's tape (which wouldn't harm the fathead or the wall) until we could figure out how to better make it stick. Unless you really look closely, you can hardly see the blue tape.

I guess it is a little obvious. I called the company and complained. They offered to ship another Priest which would probably peel right off the wall. I finally decided to get wallpaper glue and make this one work. Putting the baby's room together has been so much more eventful due to little mishaps like this. Thank heaven for patient husbands!

Under Construction (phase three)

My very awesome and patient sister came over to help me hang the border. Neither of us had ever put up a border before but she felt pretty confident we could accomplish the task. I was a little nervous because it seems like things never go quite as planned when I start these types of projects.

Exhibit one of how things don't go as planned can be viewed in the photo below. We finally worked our way around the room to discover that our pattern didn't quite piece together correctly. After some laughter, tears (mine), brainstorming (hey maybe we can hang a clock there) we patched it together and made it work pretty well.

Sis assured me again and again that you can hardly see the flaw. Well, you don't notice unless someone stands below it and points it out. I think she is actually pointing proudly at the entire border and our handy work. I choose to believe that. Anyway, the border is up and phase three is complete. Thanks Ang for being so patient and fun. The day was a success!
